What is Vista Source?

Vista Source is a modified version of the Source 2013 Multiplayer branch built to modernize Source Engine. It's our love letter to the modding community, made to expand capabilities, remove long-standing limitations, and make Source development more flexible and enjoyable for programmers, artists, and designers.

What makes Vista different from the Source SDK?

Vista Source includes custom engine changes that aren't present in the Source SDK. Instead of modifying game assemblies directly, Vista uses C# scripting to create entities, script game logic, and interface with our engine-level features without exposing them.

Do I own what I make using Vista?

All content licensing is determined by Valve Corporation and falls under the Source 1 SDK license .

Is Vista approved by Valve?

We're working toward explicit approval from Valve. As Vista does not use reverse engineering, leaked code, or other illegal methods, we're hoping to gain approval in the near future.
