January 18th Update
Hey everyone! We're excited to announce we're bringing the development of Vista Source to the public. After a long period (8 months~!) of working out the details, getting legal things in order, and planning we can finally put our heads down and get to work on the engine.
What is Vista Source?
If you're not sure what Vista even is, it's is a modified version of the Source 2013 Multiplayer branch built to modernize Source Engine. It's our love letter to the modding community, made to expand capabilities, remove long-standing limitations, and make Source development more flexible and enjoyable for programmers, artists, and designers.
This blog will be our home for technical updates. We'll be posting new features, bug fixes, and general updates here.
Features & More
Vista is bringing a lot of new features to the table, but we're also working on major refactors to old engine modules. Here's a rough list of what we've changed:
- IFileSystem Refactor
- ICommandLine Refactor
- Launcher Refactor
- New KeyValues API
